Step 6 – Putting It All Together

Step 6.1 – Buying the Subscription

  1. Publish a page with some sales copy for the subscription and then place a Buy Now button on the page using a shortcode [subb-button subscription=”Id”] where the Id is the subscription id you defined back at the start of in Step 5.
  2. View the page and click on the buy button, check the subscription details on PayPal then make the purchase.

Step 6.2 – Checking Subscription Has Been Setup For The Buyer

  1. If the configuration is correct then the buyer will be created as a new contact in Infusionsoft with a subscription and you will end up on the specified thank you page
  2. As the seller you should receive several emails with the following subjects:
    • Email from PayPal – You have a new automatic payment profile for Your Name (you as buyer)
    • Email from PayPal – You received a payment
    • Order Notification from Infusionsoft – email subject is whatever you specified when you set up the order notification in Infusionsoft
    • Profile creation notification from SubscriptionBoss – Subscription Name:recurring_payment_profile_created
    • Payment notification from SubscriptionBoss – Subscription Name:recurring_payment:txnnnnnnnnnnnnID
  3. As the buyer you should receive several emails with the following subjects:
    • Email from PayPal – You set up an automatic payment profile to Your Company (you as seller)
    • Email from PayPal – You sent an automatic payment of $$$ USD
    • Buyer Invoice from Infusionsoft – this assumes you have set up automatic invoicing – due to both the recurring payment processing on PayPal, and the invoicing on Infusionsoft, running as background processes, the invoice may appear in a few minutes or a few hours.
    • Campaign related emails from Infusionsoft – e.g welcome emails, confirmed opt-in email, etc whatever you have set up as the post sale actions
  4. On the SubscriptionBoss List Notifications page you will see the profile creation and payment notifications however the date processed will be blank as it is likely that infusionsoft has not yet created a charge as charging is done by batch and not immediately the subscription is created

Step 6.3 – Check For PayPal Subscription Payments Appearing In Infusionsoft

It can take up to 24 hours before Infusionsoft raises and invoice. However you can expedite the process.

  1. You can force the charges to be created by logging into infusionsoft, finding the contact and the subscription order and clicking on the Invoice button
  2. Then, on the WordPress site, go to SubscriptionBoss “Notifications”, select the unprocessed profile, and the click on the Reprocess button
  3. Back in Infusionsoft you should see a payment that has been now been allocated to the charge and the invoice’s “amount due” should be zero
  4. You can view the payment made by the API – this description indicates that it came via the API – it also includes the PayPal transaction ID for cross reference purposes.

Step 6.4 – Cancel the PayPal Subscription

  1. Log into PayPal as the buyer and cancel the subscription
  2. Check you get some emails:
    • Confirmation from PayPal of the cancellation to you as buyer
    • Confirmation from PayPal of the cancellation to you as seller
    • Confirmation from SubscriptionBoss of the cancellation to you as seller
  3. Check your Subscription cancellation action set was activated – this may have added or removed tags or sent emails
  4. Then, on the WordPress site, go to SubscriptionBoss “Notifications”, select the unprocessed profile, and the click on the Reprocess button
